Language and literature

This study programme integrates in the undergraduate field of Language and Literature. The duration of studies is 3 years (180 ECTS credits). The studies at this bachelor's degree programme are designed taking into account the general orientation of higher education in Romania, the current specific needs for employment in the labour market, capitalizing on the experience, didactic and cultural personality of the professors of the Faculty of Letters. The course and seminar activities do not focus only on the transmission of information, but especially on the acquisition of skills related critical thinking, processing and creative management of scientific information by the students. Seminar and specialized practice activities are focused on developing study and research skills so that graduates can cope with situations of integration and employment in different professional environments.

This study programme integrates in the undergraduate field of Language and Literature and has a duration of 3 years (180 ECTS credits). The course and seminar activities focus on understanding and explaining the grammatical system of English and French / German / Romanian from a traditional and generative-transformational perspective; critical analysis of literary theories and currents (Renaissance, Classicism, Romanticism); the use of the basic lexicon of English, French, German, Romanian in written and oral communication, in a variety of situations; analysis of linguistic and literary structures; documentation and use of information sources.

This full-time study programme integrates in the undergraduate field of Language and Literature and has a duration of 3 years (180 ECTS credits). The programme offers intellectual development, critical thinking and practical skills of effective communication in Chinese and Romanian / English / French / German. Students get to know the main currents and literary theories, the significant works of Chinese literature and their interference with other cultural spaces, as well as the main models and concepts of theoretical linguistics; they will be able analyse and interpret literary works at a formal level, at the level of content and by reference to the cultural context. Last but not least, the programme aims to develop the ability to adapt to specific communication situations, to various modes and styles of communication.

 

Perspectives after graduation: philologists and research assistants in the field of philology, cultural advisers, translators, interpreters, interpreters of diplomatic relations, literary reviewers, editors, publishers, civil servants.

Languages and literatures (distance learning)

The distance learning bachelor's degree programme Romanian language and literature - English / French language and literature is addressed to all high school graduates who want to develop skills identical to those offered by the full-time bachelor's degree programme, while having the possibility to simultaneously practice a profession (due to teaching materials in specific distance learning technology, the face-to-face tutorial system and / or on the eLearning platform). The objectives of the programme are grounded in a professional training plan for future teachers, but also for other professions, through fundamental and specialized disciplines. The programme also proposes an important interdisciplinary component through elective course packages, which enable graduates to access the labour market in other fields than teaching. Students benefit from a university library with specialized books and modern laboratories (language studies laboratory, multimedia laboratories).

Cultural Studies

This study programme integrates in the undergraduate field of Cultural Studies and has a duration of 3 years (180 ECTS credits). It is an English-taught programme which offers professional and scientific training, the development of critical and creative thinking skills, communication and social interaction of graduates.

 

Perspectives after graduation: cultural organization manager, secretary of the press agency / publishing house / editorial office, cultural advisor, instructional designer, external relations officer, teacher in preschool, primary or secondary education, translator, interpreter.

Applied Modern Languages

The undergraduate programme Applied Modern Languages (French / German – English) was designed in accordance with the general orientation of higher education in Romania, its objectives being in line with the needs identified on the labour market. The study programme Applied Modern Languages has a duration of 3 years (180 ECTS credits) and is structured into three types of disciplines - fundamental disciplines (contemporary modern language, terminology), specialized disciplines (translation theory and practice, French civilization / German / English, specialized languages, communication strategies, business correspondence), complementary disciplines (general economics, applied informatics, European integration and community institutions). Seminar activities and specialized practice activities are focused on developing translation skills and solving concrete problems that graduates will face in the future profession. Students can opt for the pedagogical module which enables them to pursue a teaching career.

 

Perspectives after graduation: interpreter; translator; external relations referent; mediator; protocol organizer; organizer of fairs and exhibitions; designer; linguistics research assistant.
