The study programme Romanian language preparatory year for foreign citizens addresses all foreign students, from inside or outside the EU, who wish to enrol for undergraduate or graduate studies at state or private accredited higher education institutions in Romania. The programme has a duration of 2 semesters (60 ECTS) and offers a complete training plan for the acquisition of skills in the field of Romanian language, culture and civilization. Through all the disciplines – both fundamental and specialized – the identity of the Romanian language is brought to the fore. The pilot courses in this area are introductory to the study of the Romanian language and the Romanian culture and civilization. Students benefit, on average, from 18 hours of weekly practical courses and course modules focused on various specialist languages, all courses being structured in accordance with the levels of language proficiency provided in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

Perspectives after completing the studies: the accumulation of all the credits provided for the subjects in the curriculum leads to the issuance of the Certificate of preparatory year, necessary for the enrolment of foreign students in Romanian-taught undergraduate and graduate studies in Romania. Also, for those who have acquired the Romanian language outside the programme of our department and wish to enrol directly in the first year of study at a university in Romania, a Certificate of Language Proficiency can be issued, following an assessment exam on language competences (according to the CEFR).
